The CDCS project is arranged in four work packages that correspond to the general goal of exploring the possibilities of a joint degree in Communication Sciences within the frame of the European Higher Education Area. Work Package 1 (WP1): It resumes around the exploration and analyses of needs through a survey aimed at target groups of all six countries on competences and skills. WORK PACKAGE 1: NEEDS ANALYSIS This study has focused on opinions through a survey of the importance the two target groups (students and professionals) allocate to each skill or competence and the extent to which the university, according to respondents, succeeded in developing it. It relies on the two strategic areas of the academy (as represented by students) and business (as represented by professionals), as representatives of the knowledge-formation and knowledge-application poles, to be spokespeople for the connection whereby university-acquired knowledge is effectively put to use. Two online questionnaires were designed to reach these two target groups. Students from all six partner universities: Universidad de Deusto (Spain), Università di Bologna (Italy), Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), Univerza v Ljubljani (Slovenia), Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (Netherlands) and Turun Yliopisto (Finland) and professionals from these six countries were invited to participate in the survey.
